I spent my lazy sunny afternoon by the waterfront in the Olympic Sculpture Park. Planning my stay, taking a nap and of course, taking pictures.

My first weekend in the US could probably not have had a better start, on all parts. For Saturdays outing to the Olympic peninsula we were blessed with the greatest weather. Not to hot, sunny, a light breeze if any at all, perfect roads and plenty of photo ops. I even ended it with a perfectly delicious Apple Martini with sake. Yum.

Isn’t that just a great name of an all american restaurant? Our last lunch with the group took place here and it was an american ending, with free refills you might say.

A van full of foreigners were driven back to Seattle today. Trip’s over for this time and as always it leaves an empty spot inside. The rest though is filled with nice memories (in digital form) to bring back home. It has been a five-star stay all the way and I have Bodypoint to thank for that. Thanks also to our fellow distributors for making each night out memorable! Hope to see you all soon again :)

Yeah, always wanted to have a post with that title obviously… Thing is that it’s entirely true and kind of sets the standard of the trip so far in Seattle. I won’t bore you with details so here’s a quick summary:

we’re 17 countries having fun across borders of both language and ages. But really, we’re here to work attending a international distributors meeting in Seattle followed by an international seating symposium in Vancouver, Canada, my present location. When approximately 17 countries goes out for dinner and drinks you never know what you can expect. The pictures below are handpicked to suit this blog of course. Blessed with the greatest weather so far in 2008 I got picked up american style by Robb and his son for the nicest Sunday ever! The tour of Seattle started with some city cruising, Robb showing me the different parts of town, and then heading for a place I’ve been wanting to visit for years. We were so fortunate to come the day the Japanese garden had a opening ceremony. Spring was just about to burst out and the tranquility of the place made me wonder why not all cities have a japanese garden.

After visiting the garden we drove to Woodinville, a town surrounded by wineries and supposedly the best (and hottest!) papaya salad around! Lunch was followed by another wish from my side, visiting a local winery. Robb chose Chateau Ste Michelle, a winery with so many awards I immediately stopped counting.

The surrounding we’re peaceful and relaxing, and dare I say…felt very European.

I got a ride back in a timely manner to join up for dinner with the other international distributors at Hotel Ändra (yes, that would be Swedish for “change/alter”). The salmon was so fresh it could have just jumped out the sea onto my plate, perhaps making a stop over the grill. Faboulous.

Last stop for the night was the Alibi Room in which I almost in my sleep enjoyed a really nice Whisky Sour. And that wraps up a perfect day in Seattle!

Ungefär fyra timmar försenade anländer vi äntligen till Seattle. Idag jag har en lång dag framför mig, det är söndag och att helga den är inte aktuellt min enda lediga heldag i USA. Enligt planen blir jag upphämtad och på min begäran ska jag besöka bl.a. den japanska trädgården och om möjlighet finns även en vingård i närheten.
Jag bor bekvämt med Space needle som primära utsikt, se bild. Nu ska jag ta reda på om frulle ingår för jag är utsvulten.

Första hälsningar från Seattle.

På lördag åker jag en vecka till USA’s västkust, eller kanske får man säga nordvästkust. Det är nämligen inte L.A eller San Fransisco som de flesta tänker på, utan staden där Microsoft, Amazon.com och Starbucks har sina huvudkontor. Staden som har smeknamn som Emerald City, Jet City och Rainy City.
För er som gillar serier som Frasier och Grey’s Anatomy lär ni känna igen stadens landmärke, Space Needle. Staden är också hemstad för grungen och artister som Kurt Cobain, Kenny G och rockbanden Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Goodness och Presidents of the United States of America, Jimi Hendrix m.fl.

Äntligen får jag chans att besöka den japanska trädgården i Seattle. Robb Brennecke har länge förgyllt Cat hair med säsongsbetonade bilder, som denna, härifrån.

Jag talar naturligtvis om Seattle. Även staden där vår största leverantör har huvudkontor och därav resans natur.

Efter att lite noggrannare besiktigat min kalender slog jag dock fast att min tid i Seattle är oerhört begränsad. Mer tid har jag däremot i nästa stad och nästa land.

Staden är Kanadas tredje största. Från denna stad kommer bl.a. Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan, Michael Buble, Nickelback, Heart, Diana Krall. Staden kommer vara värd för vinter-OS 2010. Här finns också ett China town och antalet kinesiska invånare och utländska invånare över lag är stort och varierat.

Härifrån kommer även NHL-laget Vancouver Canucks där flera svenska spelare ingår. Vi pratar såklart Vancouver. Där det för närvarande är ca 4 grader. Bikinin åker alltså inte med på packlistan. Målet med den turen är ett internationellt sittsymposium.

Ja, det var det om Seattle och Vancouver.
