Wanted: Sense
#media #exile #new, scary viruses
I sincerely hope the majority of people rely on facts over fat letter print bills one day saying doom day is near and the next why women have sex (unlike men we have completely other objectives. Apparently we do it for retaliation and educational purposes among 237 things, if you ever wondered).
Please let me migrate to another solar system. I hear they found some new planets, land should be cheap if you buy now. I can’t exist on a planet where grown ups have time for this nonsense.
Right. H1N1. A.k.a Swine Flu. Time for some hard facts and it’ll make you feel much better if you ever worried about this supposed great pandemic threat blown out of proportion by everything from media to your mother and bad memories of previous pandemic outbreaks.
- It’s a flu. I had the flu once. It sucked and I was in bed for a week practicing chinese characters and cuddling with my cat.
- According to Smittskyddsinstitutet it has a ‘mild’ classfication. But all you need to know is that it’s no more severe than a plain, ol’ flu. So why are people freaking out? Probably because the basic flu mostly got serious on the elderly population. The main difference is that this newbie has another, younger target group. Elderly - H1N1, 1-0.
- Vaccine or not? I’m not the exclusive member of the risk groups. If I get it it’s over in a week. If I get a vaccine I need to go the doctor at least twice and besides likely suffer from side effects. And if we don’t all do it there’s no real point if you’d do it to prevent further contamination.
- The real name is, and have been since I ever heard about it, the New Flu and of course H1N1. Only media refers to it as Swine Flu without “” around it. Because it’s necessary to always blame someone or something. Makes people feel like victims. I somehow wish pigs could sue. Imagine the surprise.
-What do you mean we’ve been served? Wait. By…whom?!
- Uhm, yes sir, it says so right…here: Sus scrofa domesticus of the universe. That would be pigs, sir. Good luck.
Aaaw, can’t we make this happen?

H1N1 been there done that … a short term excuse to skip work, watch everything I’ve pvr’d and have someone deliver my Starbucks fix to me. Just like so many things marketed too heavily a real let down in reality.

DD. Thanks for you being the first one I know having had the flu. Sorry it was such a disappointment after being all hyped up ;)
JP.
