One Extra Large Slice

of humble pie was my dessert yesterday at Fotomässan. Photo shows can have two effects.

1. Inspiration and admiration
2. Revoking self-confidence

I know I’m just a simple hobby amateur and I will never get anywhere near the real art of photography. And that’s fine. But just looking at my camera on the shelf makes me feel…almost embarrassed.

There seem to be a general ban on using “magic” or “magical” for descriptive purposes. But it is a good adjective. Magical does not solely have to mean beautiful in a pure, good way. It can mysterious, secretive and therefore alluring.

Few art forms move me to the point where I feel melancholic and alone yet with the feeling of “Now I can die in peace”. That are so painfully majestic in its moment that you almost forget to breathe. Art that makes you feel small, humble and confused. Tim Flach’s work of the Icelandic horses on Iceland is one of these forms.

The perception of art is highly individual of course. I just needed to share this feeling with you. Maybe it’ll leave you unaffected, maybe not. Either way, enjoy.
