Automated Shopping
Speaking of grocery shopping. Remember the days when you went into the store, placed the groceries in your basket or trolley and then checked out at the cashier? Maybe a little familiar nod or a “Hi, how are you”. Well, say goodbye to those happy days and say hello to the do-it-yourself-scanner.
I’d like to think of myself as progressive but the machine drives me crazy. It either won’t scan properly or has not been briefed on this weeks special price on bananas. Sure, it kind of talks to you, but only if you do something wrong. Now to the real drawbacks. 1. You don’t really save any time 2. You don’t get a discount for doing the cashiers job. I mean, come on!
I believe this is Willys (the grocery chain store) alternative to it’s competitors self-scanning system. Which of course is the best choice. You enter the store, take your hand-held scanner with you and scan as you go. Now THAT’s minimum effort, full control and speedy check-outs.
